When remodeling your home, it's essential to understand the rough opening before ordering doors online. Artisan offers clear size instructions to help you select the correct door size, ensuring a perfect fit.

Know Artisan Pre-hung doors
All Artisan doors are Pre-Hung. The iron door comes already assembled in its frame, complete with hinges and hardware, ready for installation. The door slab itself is mounted within the frame, making it easier and quicker to install compared to a traditional door that requires the frame and hardware to be separately installed.
The size of our pre-hung door is referred to as the Frame Size, which includes the total height and width of the frame, including the jambs.
The Width is measured from the outside edge of the left jamb to the outside edge of the right jamb.
The Height is measured from the bottom of the threshold to the top edge of the header jamb.
Rough Opening Measurements
Width ("A"): Measure from one side of the wall framing to the other at 3 points. Use the smallest measurement.
Height ("B"): Measure from the floor to the bottom of the header framing at 3 points. Use the smallest measurement.
Wall Depth/Jamb Size ("C"): Measure from the outside of the wall covering (like drywall) to the other side, avoiding any case molding.

Verify Door Dimension
Measure the Rough Opening (RO), which is the space from the wall framing. Subtract 1-1/2" from the width and 1" from the height of your RO measurements to get the door size. For example, if your door rough opening is 73-1/2"x97", then the door size should be 72”x96".
